Overview

The 8 day cycling tour from Marrakech begins in Morocco's tourism capital, Marrakech. First, we will cross the high Atlas mountains; the first part will be by car, and the second will be on bicycles. Our tour on bicycles will take us to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, where we will see the famous Atlas Studios, where many films have been filmed. Furthermore, we will also ride bicycles along the most famous canyon in Morocco. Itinerary of 8 day cycling tour from Marrakech.

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech.

On the first day of the 8 day cycling tour in Morocco, we will pick you up from the airport of Marrakech. Afterward, we will drive to the Medina where you will check in at your hotel.

Day 2: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate crossing the High Atlas Mountains.

On this day the 8 day cycling journey from Marrakech we will leave Red city. Before we get to Tizi-n-Tishka pass (2260m), we go through a lot of villages and stop to look at the beautiful Atlas mountains. Our ride will begin at a high point in the Atlas Mountains. The village of TELOUET is in a valley surrounded by the Great Atlas Mountains. The road almost always goes downhill to get there. This place is famous because of the old and beautiful Kasbah, which was the palace of Pacha el Glaoui. We will stop at the salt mines by the road after we leave the village. Later, we keep going downhill for another 10 km until we reach the Kasbah of At Ben Haddou, where our cycling for the day is done.

We’ll have time to go to the beautiful Kasbah on our own. It is a living example of Berber architecture from the 17th century, and many movies have been made there. Later, we kept going by car to get to Ouarzazate, where we were staying for the night. We stay in a Riad (dinner and breakfast included) in Ouarzazate.

Day 3: From Ouarzazate to Boumalne Dades via Rose Valley

Day 4: Boumalne Dades to the Todra Gorges (Tinghir)

On the fourth day of our 8-day cycling tour from Marrakech, we leave the hotel in a car. We leave the hotel and drive up Dades valley until we reach Tissadrine, where we start paddling for the day. We’ll ride our bikes down the Dades valley, which is in the middle of the high Atlas range and will be a great trip. From Dades, we keep going toward the Todra gorges. By the time we get close to the center of Tinghir, we’re done riding for the day. We pick up our bikes and drive to the Todra gorge. Day 5: Todra Valle to Merzouga Sahara Desert via Jorf and Erofd.

On the fifth day of the 8 day cycling tour from Marrakech, we leave our hotel and head toward Ait Hani. When we get to Ait Hani, our riding day will start, and we’ll bike down to the city of Tinghir. We’ll stop to see some Berber villages along the way. The 50-kilometer trip will be easy and quick. By the time we get to Tinghir, we’re done cycling for the day. We’ll take a bus to Merzouga, which is on the way to the Sahara desert. On the way, we’ll stop at Arfod to see a museum of fossils before heading to the desert.

When we get to the sand dunes, we’ll ride camels to our camp in the desert and stay there for the night. At night, the people working at your desert camp will make you dinner, start a fire, and play drum music. The fifth day is over.

Day 6: Merzouga Desert to Nkob cycling through Rissani, and Alnif.

After you ride camels to where your driver is waiting, the 6th day of the 8 day cycling tour from Marrakech begins. Your driver will pick you up at the camel loge, and we’ll drive to Rissani to see Ali Chref’s tomb, who started the Aloui family. Then we’ll go to a local market in Rissani, where we’ll have time to walk around and see all the city has to offer. After our visit, we’ll start our cycling for the day. We’ll head toward Alnif and pass by many Tafilalte Ksors on the way.

The ride today will be 40 km or more, depending on your decision. When finish the cycling section, we will load up the bikes and keep driving. We’ll stop in Alnif for a coffee, and then we’ll go to Nkob. We will spend our night in a hotel in Nekob (dinner and breakfast).

Day 7: Cross the Draa Valley and go back to Marrakech.

The 7th day of the 8 day cycling tour from Marrakech begins when we leave our hotel in a car and cross the Daraa Valley on our way to Ouarzazate. Along the way, we will enjoy the charming oasis of palm trees. We’ll stop in Agdiz to take photos of the palm oasis there. Then we go to Ouarzazate and cross the Atlas Mountains to get to Marrakech. When we get to Marrakech, we will go to the Menara gardens and walk around them. At final, we go to our Marrakech Riad.

Day 8: Marrakech Medina to Airport

On the last day of the 8-day cycling tour from Marrakech, we will stop for a short time in Marrakech’s old medina. During our visit, we will see the historic and most important parts of the medina, such as the Medersa “Ali Ben Youssef,” the El-Badi palace, and the covered souk, where we can look at all kinds of handicrafts, including textiles, wrought iron, the coloring of wool, and the processing of wood, leather, ceramics, and silver.

We will also go to the famous Djemaa el-Fna square, where small shows and other exciting things happen all day long.
